| Title: | Fuel Filter Assembly With Heater |
| Family: | Patent family and legal status for 5,244,571 |
| Inventor(s): | Church, John F. (Modesto, CA); Wynne, Kenneth N. (Denair, CA); Brooks, Darwin L. (Modesto, CA); Stone, Walter H. (Modesto, CA); Popoff, Peter (Modesto, CA) |
| Assignee: | Parker-hannifin Corporation (cleveland, Oh) |
| Publication Number: | 5,244,571 |
| Application Number: | 683096 |
| Abstract: | A fuel filter assembly (10) for filtering diesel fuel includes a filter
head (12), a spin on replaceable element (13) and a collection bowl (15)
removable from the element. The element includes a casing with a turned-in
edge portion at a lower end. An adaptor ring (69) is supported on said
edge portion inside the element and includes an annular threaded portion
(71). The collection bowl has an outer peripheral wall (74) with an
annular threaded portion engaging the threaded portion of the adaptor
ring. The outer peripheral wall of the bowl has an annular shoulder
abutting the turned-in edge portion of said casing to clamp said casing
between the adaptor ring and the bowl, when the bowl is attached to the
element. A seal (76) between the shoulder and the casing further serves to
hold the element and the bowl in fluid tight relation. |

| Title: | Self-venting Drain Valve |
| Family: | Patent family and legal status for 5,144,978 |
| Inventor(s): | Brown, Gene W. (Kearney, NE); Biere, David A. (Kearney, NE) |
| Assignee: | Baldwin Filters, Inc. (kearney, Ne) |
| Publication Number: | 5,144,978 |
| Application Number: | 828556 |
| Abstract: | The valve includes a rubber gasket which is clamped and sealed to the sheet
metal vessel of a fuel/water separator by a rivet nut and which serves as
a seat for the valve head of a valve member that is screwed into the rivet
nut. When the valve member is opened, the valve head moves upwardly away
from the gasket to allow air to enter the vessel through one passage in
the valve member and to enable liquid to drain from the vessel through a
separate passage in the valve member. The valve member may be formed as
two die cast parts which interfit with one another to define the passages
and which eliminate the need of machining the passages. Alternatively, the
valve member may be a single die cast part with internal passages, there
being a die cast operating knob attached to the valve member. |

| Title: | Filter Assembly With Lockable Lug Means |
| Family: | Patent family and legal status for 5,045,192 |
| Inventor(s): | Terhune, Ralph D. (Broken Arrow, OK) |
| Assignee: | Facet Enterprises, Inc. (tulsa, Ok) |
| Publication Number: | 5,045,192 |
| Application Number: | 404865 |
| Abstract: | A filter assembly including a base for supporting and providing fluid
connection to a removable filter cartridge, the base having a hollow
connecting end for mating with the cartridge, a removable filter cartridge
comprising a filter medium and having a connecting end shaped to mate
coaxially with the end of the base in a rotatable, telescopic
relationship, the connecting end of one of the base and the cartridge
having lug means extending radially toward the end of the other, the other
connecting end having corresponding passage means for lockably receiving
the lug means, the telescopically related mating ends of the base and
cartridge providing radially opposed surfaces of circular cross-section
about the mutual axis of the connecting ends of the base and cartridge,
and a circular elastomeric sealing ring providing a radial seal between
the circular cross-section surfaces, preventing liquid flow past it
between the telescopic ends. Also disclosed are a spring locking mechanism
to bias the lug means into locked position, and a filter cartridge having
its filter medium both mechanically and adhesively secured to its
connecting end member. |

| Title: | Filter Assembly With Threaded Collection Bowl |
| Family: | Patent family and legal status for 4,740,299 |
| Inventor(s): | Popoff, Peter (Modesto, CA); Church, John F. (Modesto, CA); Stone, Walter H. (Modesto, CA) |
| Assignee: | Parker Hannifin Corporation (cleveland, Oh) |
| Publication Number: | 4,740,299 |
| Application Number: | 903536 |
| Abstract: | A filter assembly and associated collection bowl for a single or dual
contaminant collection zone arrangement use a self-sealing o-ring in
combination with a threaded mating arrangement in order to withstand high
pressure differentials. The filter assembly may include an end cap having
a plurality of downwardly projecting ribs distinct from a threaded
connector ring upon which the end cap rests or the ribs may be integral
with the connector ring and separate from the end cap. The lower end of
the filter housing includes a number of contaminant channels between
adjacent pairs of the ribs, the contaminant channels leading to
corresponding contaminant outlets. |

| Title: | Valve Assembly |
| Family: | Patent family and legal status for 4,440,193 |
| Inventor(s): | Matheson, Charles L. (Cookeville, TN) |
| Assignee: | Cummins Engine Company, Inc. (columbus, In) |
| Publication Number: | 4,440,193 |
| Application Number: | 323940 |
| Abstract: | A valve assembly is provided for controlled draining of a liquid
accumulated in a closed vessel. The assembly includes a body member
mounted on the vessel and a valve piece adjustably mounted on the body
member for movement between open and closed positions. The body member has
a first section extending into the vessel interior wherein the liquid
accumulates, a second section secured to the vessel, and a substantially
exposed third section. The first, second, and third sections are provided
with a common primary passage and an independent common secondary passage.
Each passage has one end terminating within the vessel interior and a
second end terminating externally of the vessel. The body member first
section is provided with a stationary valve seat disposed in aligned and
spaced relation with respect to the primary passage one end. The valve
piece includes an elongated first element slidably and sealingly mounted
within the primary passage. A longitudinally extending bore open at
opposite ends is formed in the first section. One end of the bore engages
the valve seat and is closed thereby when the valve piece is in a closed
position. An exposed flange element encompasses the exterior of the first
element and is connected thereto. The flange element is provided with a
seal means which sealingly engages and closes off an end of the secondary
passage except when the valve piece is in the open position. The seal
means effects a predetermined delay in opening the secondary passage
relative to the unsealing of the bore end with respect to the valve seat. |
